UPDATED: Suspect Found Dead Following SWAT Standoff in Imperial Beach

Residents were asked to avoid the area where the standoff was taking place.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA - A SWAT standoff in Imperial Beach Sunday ended after the suspect was found deceased in the apartment he was holed up in, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The standoff was in the 500 block of Florence Street. The man was wanted in connection with a stabbing and refused to surrender, authorities said.

Homes located next to the residence where the suspect is hiding were evacuated. Calla and Cypress Avenues were closed.

The sheriff’s office warned residents there might be other road closures in the area. Residents were also told they may see a helicopter flying overhead and making announcements asking the suspect to surrender.
