Teenager Struck By Pickup Truck In Imperial Beach

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — A 14-year-old girl was struck by a pickup truck Monday but is expected to recover after being taken to a hospital.

The teenager was hit by the vehicle a little before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Imperial Beach Boulevard and Connecticut Street, San Diego County Sheriff's Department Lt. J. Marquez said.

The victim, who was wearing headphones, started crossing the street after the pickup truck had begun to turn onto Connecticut Street, witnesses told police. The truck hit the victim at a low rate of speed.

The victim was taken to a hospital with minor scrapes and "is expected to be OK," Marquez said.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to investigators, who said drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident.

The incident remains under investigation.
