Krakow as Elizabeth is definitely a fiery character! Knowing what she wants for her life, she doesn’t have a problem standing up for it. Being a young lady in that era didn’t make speaking one’s mind easy either. Talking about matters of the heart was even more problematic. Krakow wears her costuming well which just adds more to her character.
Lissing as Mountie Thornton is handsome, sweet, and pretty much every girls dream come true. His manners and treatment of Elizabeth is not only respectful but done with love. Lissing gives his character so much depth because of those truly honorable traits. Plus, what gal doesn’t love a guy in uniform!
Loughlin as Abigail gives such a strong performance as a woman who will do what is necessary to call attention to an injustice done not just to her family, but to the town of Cole Valley. The relationship Loughlin’s character has with Jack Wagner is filled with humor but also the problems that arise when a secret is revealed.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give WHEN CALLS THE HEART: Trials of the Heart four tubs of popcorn out of five. This story is simplistic in its values which is a wonderful thing. The tale of a town in the wild frontier, the series itself is filled with romance, friendships, family and the loyalty this town has toward each other.
Trials of the Heart continues with this tradition of storytelling that is fantastic for families to enjoy and the truly challenging work of portraying a time gone by. I have to say I am a big fan and the show truly does embrace the story with the town and beautiful costuming.
When looking for good programming WHEN CALLS THE HEART: Trials of the Heart is perfect for families to watch together with a little something for everyone.
In the end - this is a story about love frontier style!
