Which Two California Cities Ranked 'Unfriendliest' in State?

Whether you're in Southern or Northern California, the readers of Condé Nast Traveler ranked these two cities as the worse.

When tourists typically think of the rude locals, New York City denizens usually come to mind. However, the Big Apple was no where to be found on this list.

The readers of Condé Nast Traveler were asked to ranked cities with the rudest locals. Two cities in the Golden State made the top 10 list.

When you think of ”plastic, dirty and crowded,” which city comes to mind? If you say Los Angeles, you’d be right. The city was criticized for having ”awful roads” and “aggressive drivers.” Tinseltown was also roasted for having “too much celebrity stuff” and “snobbish and pricey restaurants.”

But surprisingly, Los Angeles is not the highest (lowest?) ranked California city on the list, coming in at No. 9.

So, which city ranked higher? That’d be Oakland.

The city came at the No. 2 for the second year in a row. How bad is it? One reader said, “If it wasn’t for Lake Merritt, this city would be off limits to any law-abiding citizen.” Ouch!

Though some readers contend that the city is the next “up-and-coming” city.
