WOLF WARRIOR Packs onto Bluray!

Sgt. Leng Feng (Wu Jing) is one of the military’s best marksman, except for one problem – he has a hard time taking orders when a life is on the line. Sent to the stockade for disobeying a direct order, Lt. Col Xiaoyun (Yu Nan) visits him. In his cell she tests his resolve and recruits him to the Chinese Special Forces “War Wolf”.

In the middle of military operations things begin to get real. When soldiers are actually killed, Sgt. Feng is determined to out why. Just ahead of the platoon is Tom Cat (Scott Adkins) a mercenary who works for Ming Deng (Ni Dahong), a drug lord who is out for revenge.

The group comes together with Feng in the lead to stop the mercenaries and make sure the ones responsible are taken to justice.

Jing as Sgt. Feng has a double job here as both director and star. That should be surprising as Jing has been in films since 1996 and television since 1997 and succeeded at doing both. In 2008 I saw Feng in the film THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR alongside Jet Li and that, my friends, is a paring. He also has worked alongside Jackie Chan in the film SHAOLIN which I loved!

Nan as Lt. Col Xiaoyun is as tough as she wants to be yet it’s clear from the beginning she has an eye for talent. If that isn’t enough, she tries to hide her intrigue for Feng as he tries to get personal but in a funny way.

Adkins as Tom Cat is just plain vicious and that’s to be expected of a mercenary. Taking the mission means money so he doesn’t care who he takes out in the process. Along with his crew it is one shot after another taking down everything in his path. I have to say Adkins has the right look and plays the demeanor very well.

Other cast include: Javad Ramezani as Petros, Kevin Lee as Crazy Bull, Kyle Shapiro as Monkey, and Christopher Collins as Cowboy.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give WOLF WARRIOR four tubs of popcorn out of five. Jing is amazing to watch. Not only is he quite the tough guy but has a sense of humor that breaks here and there. I actually like my action heroes to have a mild sense of humor and Jing definitely made me giggle a few times.

There is action, martial arts and a story line that mesh well together. The ending is one for the film books because this main character and his friends aren’t about to give up – border line or no border line.

In the end – not following orders just might save them!
