1. 19th annual Concert for Autism to rock Coachella Valley (sacbee.com) — Indio will host key dates of the 19th annual Concert for Autism, including the Sept. 26 kickoff at the Dune Room and the Oct. 17 main event at Big Rock Pub, both supporting the Desert Autism Foundation. Local musicians, families, and businesses are invited to enjoy live music, auctions, and kid‑friendly activities while helping reduce therapy costs for Coachella Valley residents on the autism spectrum.
2. Week 6 football rankings include a few big jumps up the list (desertsun.com) — High school football power rankings across the Coachella Valley put Indio High in the Sun Valley League favorite's role and suggest this could finally be the year it wins the long‑elusive Bell Game. The piece breaks down how Indio, Coachella Valley, Shadow Hills and other nearby programs are stacking up at midseason, and what upcoming rivalry games could mean for league races.
3. 20 arrested during Mongols Motorcycle Club gathering in Cathedral City (kesq.com) — A major police operation during a Mongols Motorcycle Club gathering at a Cathedral City resort led to 20 arrests, multiple seized handguns, and dozens of citations. Indio Police joined several local and state agencies in the two‑day effort, which targeted suspected weapons, narcotics, and warrant violations and aimed to keep the wider Coachella Valley community safe.
4. State Senator says new data center laws will protect consumers (kesq.com) — New state laws will force data center developers to cover more of their own power, infrastructure, and wildfire‑related costs, instead of shifting them to ratepayers. For Indio residents, this matters because the city currently has a moratorium on data centers, and these tougher statewide rules could shape if and how such projects ever move forward locally.
