Two calendars by local artists bring the forest home all year - proceeds benefit non profit

The Angeles National Forest and Angeles Crest Highway are the beloved playground of millions each year. One popular destination is Newcomb's Ranch, established in 1932 and today doing a bustling business Thursday through Sunday.
A less known destination, Chilao School, once served the local mountain community as a kindergarten through sixth grade public school built and operated by La Canada Unified School District. Decommissioned in 1981, the school languished for 30 years before finding new life and service with Redbird, a Native American and environmental non profit association.
Two 2018 calendars are bring offered via Lulu Publishing, and the proceeds from both will benefit programs at Chilao School. The calendars are made via a print on demand process, so that only calendars which are ordered are printed, and there is no waste. They can be previewed and purchased online via the links below.
Supporters of Chilao School have been encouraging Redbird to create a calendar for some time; Ted Koerner of Foothills Coffee Roasting has been urging Newcomb's to create their own calendar for nearly a year.
Next year's calendar will likely merge the best of both worlds - bringing back Redbird's multi-artist, multi-media art show Highway 2 - the journey and the destination - to Newcomb's Ranch in 2019, and utilizing works from the show for the 2019 calendar.
