County Warns of Potential Street Flooding
With all the tree debris in the streets and rain in the forecast, the County Public Works Department is warning that localized street flooding is possible. Read on to see how LCF officials want you prepare the green waste.
With rain in the forecast starting Sunday night, county officials are warning that the tree debris spread across city streets could result in localized flooding if rainfall totals end up being high.
Bob Spencer, of the Los Angeles County Public Works Department, wrote in an email that while the county's flood control system has been cleared out in anticipation of winter storms, it will be several weeks before the streets are cleaned of debris, which could potentially clog up the system.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a 40 percent chance of rain Sunday night in La Cañada, with a 60 percent chance of rain on Monday. Rainfall totals are predicted to be around one-quarter to one-half an inch in the valleys, and one to two inches in the mountains.

On the City of La Cañada Flintridge's website, officials note that the city has contracted with all three authorized residential haulers to pick up debris from the Nov. 30 wind storm.
Residents should place tree branches, limbs, sticks, leaves and other yard waste.
next to their refuse, recyclables and green waste carts. For the next two weeks, on the regularly scheduled pickup day, it will be carted away.
The city urges resident to put the lawn debris in the green waste containers or bundle it in heaps up to 6 feet long and 70 pounds heavy. Do not put it in bags because bags cannot be composted, and they would contaminate the waste.
