The January meeting of the Canada Crescenta Democratic Club will feature speaker Peter Dreier addressing “Is a New Progressive Movement Around the Corner?” Dreier is an urban policy analyst, author, and professor of politics at Occidental College.
His most recent book is “The 100 Greatest Americans of the 20th Century: A Social Justice Hall of Fame (2012).” He also co-authored “Up Against the Sprawl: Public Policy and the Making of Southern California (2004).” Dreier wrote a definitive piece, “The 25 Best Progressive Victories of 2013,” in the Huffington Post this month.
Also speaking at the meeting will be Patrick Gomez, entering the race for L.A. County Sheriff, and Ellen Portantino, sharing her award for increasing PTA membership.
