5th San Gabriel Valley HIV/AIDS Action Summit

Thirty years into the AIDS epidemic, it has become all too easy to forget that HIV/AIDS continues to wreak havoc in our world, our country, and our communities. The San Gabriel Valley HIV/AIDS Action Summit raises awareness about vital issues concerning the prevention, treatment and cure of HIV & AIDS. Topics of discussion will include HIV/AIDS 101 and the impacts of health care reform. Panel discussions and breakout sessions will provide opportunities for learning as well as participation through the identification of action items for future efforts.

Assemblymember Anthony Portantino and City of Hope are inviting the public to a discussion of current and future issues concerning HIV/AIDS.

Jake Glaser, Pediatric AIDS Foundation, discusses young people living with HIV. Jake is the son of actor Paul Michael Glaser and the late, Elizabeth Glaser, AIDS activist and the founder of PAF. He has been an active spokesman for raising awareness among young people about the disease he has lived with for 26 years and that took the lives of his mother and sister.
