May is Disability Insurance Awarenss Month (guess what industry lobbied for that!) so I wanted to share some resource information with you.
The Social Security Administration's SSDI (disability) website has a lot of updated factual information on government provided disability benefits but more than that, it has some great planning and assessment tools for people of any age. www.ssa.gov/
The Council for Disability Awareness, a non-profit organization, has a tremendous website at www.disabilitycanhappen.org with outstanding information for employers, individuals, care givers and more.
Since disability is not something that only happens to our elder employees or family members, everyone should know what their disability resources are to help them make a financial plan for possible short or long term disabilities. According to the Council for Disability Awareness, 1,732,0908 working age Americans experienced a disability illness or injury since January 1, 2104.
