Girls Hoops: Romero Reaches Milestone in Tologs Loss
FSHA senior passes 1,000-point mark for career
The Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy girls’ basketball had reason to be happy and reason to be disappointed Tuesday night when it travel to North Hollywood to face Harvard-Westlake in a Mission League contest.
The host Wolverines ran away from the Tologs to win 71-38 in a Mission League contest.
But on a positive note, the Tologs were able to celebrate as senior Vanessa Romero scored 12 points to go over the 1,000 mark in her career. Romero needed just seven points to reach the mark. She now has 1,005 points, which was accomplished even though she missed 20 games her junior year after tearing her meniscus in her right knee.

“Honestly, I was speechless,” said Romero, who was handed roses following the game. “I don’t know what else to say. I was so surprised because it was a tough loss. It was nice because my teammates congratulated me. They were really happy for me. I thought that was nice of them. ”
FSHA Coach Gino Pacella said the school plans to honor Romero for her achievement.

“We’ll give her the game ball on Thursday night against Notre Dame,” FSHA coach Pacella said.
Harvard-Westlake (19-8 overall, 8-1 in league), the top-ranked team in the CIF-Southern Section 2A Division, led 33-23 at halftime.
“Their speed and 3-point shooting took over in the second half,” Pacella said.
The Tologs (14-11, 3-6 in the Mission League) also received a solid performance from junior center Lana Haddad, who had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
