La Cañada Flintridge Lawyer Appointed To The Bench
Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha, 55, was appointed as a Superior Court judge by Gov. Jerry Brown. He is one of only 2 Republicans appointed.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Gov. Jerry Brown appointed 11 people to judgeships Monday in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
As Superior Court judges, they will earn annual salaries of $191,612.

- Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha, 55, of La Cañada Flintridge, a partner at White and Case and a former assistant U.S. attorney;
- Robert S. Harrison, 59, of Los Angeles, who has been a Superior Court commissioner since 2006;
- Sarah J. Heidel, 42, of South Pasadena, an assistant U.S. attorney since 2005;
- Gus T. May, 52, of Los Angeles, vice president of legal services at Bet Tzedek Legal Services since 2016 and a directing attorney there since 2001;
- Rubiya Nur, 52, of Diamond Bar, a sole practitioner and former deputy public defender;
- Nancy A. Ramirez, 52, of Pasadena, a Superior Court commissioner since 2014;
- Lynn H. Scaduto, 46, of Los Angeles, an assistant U.S. attorney since 2011;
- Neetu S. Badhan-Smith, 40, of Los Angeles, a deputy public defender since 2004; and
- J. Christopher Smith, 50, of Los Angeles, a Superior Court commissioner since 2015.
Appointed to the bench in Orange County were:
- Carol L. Henson, 55, of Santa Ana, an Orange County assistant district attorney since 2014; and
- Antony C. Ufland, 51, of Newport Beach, a senior deputy alternate defender since 2005.
All of the appointees are Democrats except Aenlle-Rocha and Henson, who are both Republicans.
