Student Arrested For Allegedly Selling Pills To La Cañada Peer
A school nurse reported a possible overdose involving a student. Paramedics took the student to a hospital.

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA –A La Cañada High School student is facing possible criminal charges for allegedly selling pills to a classmate who ended up in a hospital, authorities said.
Firefighters were sent about 11:35 a.m. Wednesday to the 4400 block of Oak Grove Drive in La Cañada Flintridge after a school nurse reported a possible overdose involving a student, according to Sgt. Jose Larios of the sheriff's Crescenta Valley Station. Paramedics took the youth to a hospital and notified the sheriff's department, he said.
The victim took an unknown number and unknown type of pills, which were allegedly sold to the student by schoolmate Dax Allen Shmidt, Larios said.

During the investigation, deputies found that the suspect was in possession of additional narcotics, according to a LASD press release. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Crescenta Valley Station for child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance for sales.
Shmidt was freed Thursday morning after posting $70,000 bail, according to sheriff's inmate records. The condition of the student who took the pills was not immediately available.
