Crime Blotter: Man Tries to Film Beneath Shopper's Skirt

A female shopper at in La Cañada told deputies an unidentified man tried to take pictures underneath her skirt, according to a police report.

The woman reported to that a man approached her on July 11 while she shopped inside the Korean market. The man asked her random questions and directed her attention to the items on the shelves, the report states. At this point, the man started to slide a camera-topped mop under her clothes. The woman's husband realized what was going on and attempted to retrieve the camera, according to the report.

The suspect ran and tossed the phone on the building's roof and locked himself into a storage room. When deputies arrived they found the phone with no images or video of lewd conduct. As such, so no arrest was made.

Annoying Calls Repeatedly Made to Workplace

On July 13, a female told the police about suspicious calls that have been made to her workplace at the 800 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada. She had received hundreds of calls from “Carlos” who had contacted her about massages. She had explained repeatedly to the man that the business didn’t offer massages, but “Carlos” continued to call, insisting on a massage, and stating that he was approximately 30 minutes away from the location. She stated that she has never met “Carlos” and doesn’t know anything about him.

Mail Missing on Saint Katherine Drive

Two cases of mail theft were reported on July 21. One incident was reported by a 50-year-old female who lived on the 810 block of Saint Katherine Drive in La Cañada. She noticed that one morning the mail was gone. The other case was reported by a 52-year-old female who lives next door. She discovered that the person damaged the mail box lock, valued at $120, and the mail was missing.

Identity Theft Linked to Utility Accounts

On July 9, a 21-year-old female contacted the police regarding identity theft at the 480 block of Oakwood Avenue in La Cañada. She had discovered an unknown person had opened utility accounts using her social security number when she herself went to apply for an electricity account. She said that she has never given anyone permission to use her social security number.
