Patch Picks: Want to Join the Club?
You don't have to swing a club to be in a club. Patch found five great clubs that invite you to join them for fun, good deeds, and community.
The and both offer wonderful clubs, like Wednesday night Chess, Scrabble, and Bridge, but there are many organizations around town that welcome members and offer not only new friends, but opportunies to support the community, learn something new, or just have a good time.
1. The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada is open to anyone who is interested in following the organization’s principal and motto of “serving children of the world.” Meetings are held at noon each Wednesday at . New members must be sponsored by a current member and go through an approval process, but all are welcome to visit a meeting as a first step. Please see the club’s website to learn more about their many programs and philanthropic endeavors both close to home and around the world, as well as numerous social events through out the year.
2. If mornings are more your thing, there is also a La Cañada-Flintridge Kiwanis AM Club meeting at 7:30 a.m. each Wednesday at the . The club’s website has more information. Kiwanis also oversees the Key Club that brings kids together for community service and learning.

3. The Brown Bag Book Club meets at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the . While there’s not much time to prepare for this month’s meeting, get ready for November’s club by reading Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann. See the bookstore’s website for more information.
4. Friendship, philanthropy, and fun are all offered with membership in the La Cañada Junior Women’s Club. The club sponsors a variety of charity and outreach programs, as well as the popular , which provides scholarships to five outstanding young LCF women. 5. Whether you’re blue or red, there’s a club for you in LCF. Campaigns are starting but politics are in full swing. Find out more about the issues, volunteer for your candidate, or just discuss the issues with like-minded folks at the La Cañada Flintridge Republican Club and the Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club.
