Republican Club of the Foothills Dinner Oct. 30

Meet local candidates and hear Byron Walls speak on Crime Safety at the La Canada Thursday Club.

Republican Club of the Foothills will have as its main speaker a man who gives crime prevention seminars and once sang with The New Christy Minstrels.

The event is set for Thursday, Oct. 30; doors open at 6 p.m. ~ Dinner and program begins at 6:45 p.m. at the La Canada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane.

Byron Walls has been speaking on the subject of crime safety since 1980 when he started working for Citizens Against Crime in Nashville.

In 1996 he moved to Los Angeles and started California Crimefight.

  • Folksinger: at the age of 20 he was the opening act to Phyllis Diller and Mort Sahl in San Francisco. In the late 1960’s he sang with the New Christy Minstrels.
  • Comedian: as part of Byron and Howard, he opened for Rosemary Clooney in Las Vegas.
  • Actor: he appeared in the movie Starman with Jeff Bridges and played the part of Connie in the movie of the week Country Gold starring Linda Hamilton and Lonnie Anderson.
