Seen this Man? Authorities Said He Stole Church's Cash Box

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA - Authorities Wednesday sought public help to identify a man who stole various items from a church in La Cañada Flintridge.

The crime occurred about 4:40 p.m. on May 27 at the church, whose name and address were not released.

"The suspect entered (the) church ... and stole a cashbox, U.S. currency, and an envelope containing numerous personal checks," a sheriff's statement said. "The suspect also forced entry into a kitchen by kicking open the door." The thief also took items from two vehicles in an adjacent parking lot.

Detectives released security images of the man, described as black, 5- feet-8 inches to 5-feet-10 inches tall, and weighing about 230-250 pounds. He wore a blue shirt, blue jeans, blue shoes, and black square-rimmed glasses. He might have been driving a white, four-door, mid-2000s model Chevrolet Malibu.
