Tennis: Arcadia Dominates La Cañada
Spartans struggle in nonleague girls' tennis match, falling 14-2 to visiting Apaches.
The girls’ tennis team was overpowered by visiting Arcadia High Monday as the Apaches earned a 14-2 victory.
Spartans coach Will Moravec said he shuffled his lineup in hopes of helping the doubles.
“We knew this team would be good,” Moravec said. “We haven’t played this lineup all year.”

La Canada (3-5) did not win a set in singles. Seven sets were contested in singles with the final two being cancelled after a mutual agreement between the coaches of both teams.
Sydney Fischel, who played No. 1 singles, fell 6-0 and 7-6(7-5).

No. 2 player Sharon Kim lost 6-0, 6-1. No. 3 player Alison Chang lost 6-0, 6-0 before being substituted by Suma Gudipati, who also lost her set 6-0.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Linnea Frazier and Sawa Keymeulen lost 6-0 to Arcadia’s No. 1 team. They defeated the previously unbeatean Arcadia No. 2 team of Ashley Gao and Shana Mofarrah 7-6(7-4) and lost to Arcadia’s No. 3 team 6-3.
The No. 2 team of Emily Swanson and Lynn Gilmour lost 6-0 and 6-3, before bouncing back to win their final set 6-2.
The No. 3 team of Serena Zheng and Rachel Wons lost 6-4, 6-0, 6-4.
