Verdugo Hills Hospital Welcomes Wound Specialist

has announced the addition of Dr. John S. Gambol, a specialist in emergency and hyperbaric medicine, to the medical staff of the hospital’s Wound Care Advantage program. 

Gambol received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, served as Chief Resident of Emergency Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, and is Board Certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine.

VHH’s Wound Care Advantage program uses hyperbaric oxygen therapy – HBOT - to heal chronic wounds.  HBOT is the administration of 100 percent oxygen in a pressurized environment and works through the entire body as the increased oxygen level moves into the blood and body tissues.  HBOT has a 97 percent healing rate.

“I have used hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat wounds that patients have had for years,” said Gambol in a VHH press release.  “Imagine having a non-healing wound for three to five years, and then having it healed within three months using HBOT.  That’s what we do at the wound center.”
