Saturday 5 PM - 10 AM

Star Gazing in Chilao at Chilao School, in Chilao Campground at mile 49.49 on Angeles Crest Highway

Astronomers and star gazers are welcome to enjoy an evening under the stars in the Angeles. Telescope area(s) will be set up on either side of the school complex. Visitors with or without telescopes should wear sturdy (not open toe) shoes and may want to bring insect repellent, a light jacket, and small personal flashlights. The moon will be at 16% fullness, setting in the evening just after dark, so the night sky will be visible with the naked eye if weather conditions permit. This event is hosted by the non profit group Redbird at their Chilao School facility and will take place on both forest and private land. Chilao School is an alcohol and drug free environment. Visitors are welcome to bring their tents and spend the night fee-free on the school property. There may be a hike on Saturday morning if guests desire. Some refreshments will be provided - potluck dinner may spontaneously occur. Link to the event on Facebook here:
