The Thanksgiving Day Run is so much more than a Turkey Trot, it’s the largest Food Drive in La Cañada! Every November, the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge partners with the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station to deliver food to poor families in our neighboring communities. Last year we filled the pantries of about 150 families just in time for the holidays.
"Every year, our deputies responding to calls for service find families struggling to get by without food for their families. With this Food Drive, we are able to give back to those that are trying to get back on their feet and working hard. With the costs for food so high, they have a hard time meeting that need. With this Food Drive, we, as a community partnership, are able to give back to those in our area who cannot meet that need for their children this holiday season. We are honored to work in such a caring and giving community," said Sergent Burton Brink of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s station.
We are collecting non-perishable food items, such as, canned food, cereals, rice, cake mixes, pasta, juice boxes, baby formula, granola bars, cereal bars, peanut butter, grocery store gift cards, etc.
