2 Rehabilitated Seals Released Into The Wild By PMMC

Police officers and representatives from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center celebrated the release of two rehabilitated seals this past week.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Two rehabilitated seals were released back into their natural habitat by the Pacific Marine Mammal Center Thursday, in collaboration with the Laguna Beach Police and Marine Safety Department.

Among the released seals was Coastie, rescued on Jan. 28 from beneath the Newport Beach Pier and initially weighing a slight 27.3 pounds.

Coastie has thrived under PMMC's care, and has now returned to the ocean weighing 62.5 pounds, the city said.
