$20K Stolen From Laguna Beach Business, 2 Men Arrested, Police Say

Two inland empire residents were arrested in Laguna Beach over the weekend for burglarizing and stealing, police said.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Two inland empire residents were arrested in Laguna Beach on suspicion of burglary, the Laguna Beach Police Department reported.

Laguna Beach police officers were conducting patrol checks of businesses along Laguna Canyon Road in response to an increase of commercial burglaries.

According to a statement released by the Laguna Beach Police Department, one of the officers conducting the patrol check noticed a vehicle leaving a closed business. A traffic enforcement stop was held based on a vehicle equipment violation, police said.

Chino Hills resident Joseph Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and additional charges.

A passenger in the car was also arrested. He was not identified by name, though police described him as a "career criminal" currently on probation.

Officers were also able to determine ownership of stolen equipment in the car valued at $20,000.
