3rd Street Gets New Look With Vibrant Mural: Laguna Photo Of The Day
The temporary mural blankets the 3rd Street stairway and was created by Laguna Beach artist Beau Stanton.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The steep walk up the 3rd Street stairwell in Laguna Beach just got a whole lot more colorful with the addition of a new temporary mural, the city said in a statement.
The mural was designed by Laguna College of Art + Design alumnus Beau Stanton in 2020 as a part of the city's "Fostering Creativity in a Time of Crisis" project proposed by Cultural Arts Manager Siân Poeschl, Stu News reported.

The mural, titled "Prismatic Play," was created by Stanton in collaboration with Elephants and Castles. Stanton and Laguna Beach city officials, as well as members of the community, gathered on Sunday to dedicate the mural.

"These stairs have been featured in fashion magazines, Instagram and even a social distance concert during COVID," Laguna Beach Mayor Sue Kempf said during the dedication ceremony. "I would like to take this moment to thank Tammie Arnold and Mark Porterfield for funding this project.
