LAGUNA BEACH, CA — An unconscious person was pulled from the surf at South Crescent Bay Beach Wednesday afternoon, the Laguna Beach Police Department said.
The rescue happened at around 4:20 p.m., when city Marine Safety staff pulled an unconscious person from the surf.
The person had been bodysurfing at the beach leading up to the incident and went into cardiac arrest after being carried to shore, city staff said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear if the person, who was described by city staff as a "male," was an adult or child.
CPR was performed by lifeguards on scene, and the individual was taken to Mission Hospital Laguna Beach via ground ambulance.
His status was not immediately known.
