LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The City of Laguna Beach announced plans for Aliso Beach after days of powerful tides damaged the popular beach's parking lot and recreational areas.
City staff announced the closure of the Aliso Beach parking lot "until further notice" this Wednesday.
According to city staff, the front of the lot — seaward of the second row of pal
m trees — will also close to pedestrians intermittently, as high surf is projected until Oct. 25.
Residents can access the Lost Pier Cafe by using a cleared path at the back of the lot, officials said.
According to Laguna Beach city officials, repairs to the area will continue under emergency permits.
"The goal is to restore parking and beach access as close to possible to what was there before, with facilities designed to better withstand a changing coastline," officials said.
Residents can expect a full clean-up of Aliso Beach to take place once the harsh swell passes, officials said.
