Fleastyle, 'The Original Hat Bar,' Celebrates Grand Opening In Laguna Beach

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A brand-new business offering a special twist on hat-shopping opened its doors in Laguna Beach this month.

But for Flea Style owner Brittany Cobb, the opening of the store's tenth location is more than an exciting business expansion — it's a type of homecoming.

Cobb spoke with Patch during Flea Style's official ribbon-cutting ceremony, which took place on Thursday, Oct. 8.

"It's really special, I'm born and raised in Orange County — I grew up in the City of Orange," Cobb told Patch.

Cobb founded the first iteration of Flea Style after moving from SoCal to Dallas in 2009 with the intention of offering an immersive, customizable and Instagram-worthy experience that blends shopping, dining and creativity.

At Flea Style, patrons will do more than just find a high-quality hat — they can style it to their liking with customized branding, accessories and more.

"Flea Style and our hat bars have always been about celebrating individuality and creative expression," Cobb, said. "I couldn't be more excited to blend my California and Texas roots in this special space and grow our brand in the community that helped shape who I am."

The business's namesake comes from the fact that most, if not all, of the store's accessories are sourced from flea markets and second-hand stores.

Every find is hand-selected, and at times, one is hard-pressed to find two trinkets that are exactly the same.

Trinkets include antique brooches, hand-crafted mini bouquets with pressed floral arrangements, varieties of golden pins, feathers, second-hand pendants and more.

But Flea Style does more than offer a customizable hat-buying experience — the boutique offers an array of Bohemian-Western apparel that Cobb says creates a "perfect marriage" of her SoCal roots and Texas life.

In addition, the boutique offers bridal party packages, virtual appointments and more.
