LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A luxury south Orange County resort is moving guests off its first floor as powerful king tides pound the coast of Southern California, The California Post reported.
The Surf & Sand Resort — located on 1555 S. Coast Highway — is taking extra precautions as waves batter the property by closing the first floor to guest reservations, the report said.
"We are putting no guests on the first floor," a Surf & Sand employee told the outlet, saying that the move was made out of an abundance of caution.
Video captured by resident Blair Conklin showed massive waves crashing against the Surf & Sand on Monday morning.
In the video, the white-water waves could be seen reaching as high as the third story of the resort.
The news comes as powerful king tides batter the coast of Orange County, triggering widespread flooding, property damage and road closures.
