LAGUNA BEACH, CA — As more high tides and big waves are projected for the holiday season, surfers and ocean enthusiasts are making the most out of an increasingly dire situation.
BeefsTV shared footage of surfer Kalani Robb catching king tide backwash waves near Surf & Sand Resort, a luxury oceanfront hotel in Laguna Beach, this past week.
Video footage showed Robb paddling out near the resort while massive, white-foamed waves crashed against the building's face.
"It's a good wave!" Someone can be heard shouting at Robb as a tall backwash wave races toward the surfer. "Go left, go left!"
The video was taken near Surf & Sand resort, where high tides earlier this week forced employees to move guests from the oceanfront hotel's first floor.
"We are putting no guests on the first floor," a Surf & Sand employee told the California Post Friday, saying that the move was made out of an abundance of caution.
