Ballot Measure Approved to Repeal Laguna Beach Ban on Marijuana Dispensaries

Laguna Beach voters could get to decide on whether to allow medical marijuana dispensaries as soon as July.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA Laguna Beach voters will get the final say on whether to allow medical marijuana dispensaries in town.

According to The Indy, a measure seeking to repeal the city’s ban on dispensaries has been approved for the ballot after garnering 2,414 signatures from validated voters.

The paper reports that the measure could go on a July special election ballot or the November general election ballot. However, it’s not likely to go up without a fight from community leaders who worry that dispensaries create nuisances, including increased crime and impact on property values..

Since banning dispensaries years ago, the council recently floated the idea of banning delivery services as well.
