Beloved Laguna Beach Restaurant Closes For Good As New Restaurant Moves In

A new independent restaurant based in San Clemente will take over the restaurant's building.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Longstanding Laguna Beach restaurant Dizz's As Is closed on March 13, and a new restaurant is already lined up to take its place.

The Coast Highway restaurant was owned and operated by the Pitz family for more than 40 years after being founded in 1977 by Marcel Pitz.

Now, another independent concept is preparing to move into Dizz's old building.

Small's Smash Club, which debuted in San Clemente in 2025, will open its second location in the former Dizz's As Is location.

The new Laguna Beach location will feature the same burger-focused menu as the original, along with a full bar and ocean views.

According to The Orange County Register, the new location is expected to open by May 1.
