A New iPhone Art App for Laguna Beach? GET IT!
Art shopping is a click away, even if you're not in Laguna Beach.
With all the art galleries in South Orange County, its hard to know where to go. Luckily I was introduced to a website that makes it easy to navigate around and even purchase art on line, check it out: http://www.lagunaart.com/
This website also has an Iphone application called LagunaART.com/iphone, just type in "Laguna Beach" in the applications and it'll pop up.
The application has an overview map of all the galleries and information about upcoming receptions and community art events.

Some things can be overwhelming, like picking fine wine for the first time when all you've known is red or white.
Purchasing art can also be a little confusing, if you're not too connected to your intuition. Some art patrons purchase art that moves them or makes them feel something, while others purchase art that complements a room or makes for a good conversation piece.

But where do you start? Finding a few art galleries and artists you admire is a good place. Check out www.lagunaartnews.com which already has a "list of 8,000 art enthusiasts and 3,000 art dealers," and it just launched this week.
Artist receptions can be a fun outing, meeting local artists, drinking wine and discussing their love and ambition behind a particular piece. A much better alternative to the non-existent club scene in South OC. Maybe soon you can start to take down the college posters stuck up on the wall with thumbtacks and slowly replace them with original art. Just sayin' ...
My favorite part of the iPhone app? It has a tab for art under $300, which is genius, because giving art as a gift to someone is the gift that keeps on giving for years to come.
Local artists I've recently been introduced to that I think you should definitely get to know: Dasha Guilliam, Shane Townley, Hugo Rivera, Haleh Mashian and ocean photographer Russ Sanders.
We've been so lucky with the weather lately ... makes me want to take a stroll and see whats new in the art world.
