Coast Guard Rescues Laguna Beach Swimmer One Mile Offshore
Laguna Beach lifeguards, firefighters, and police searched for a woman who reported missing from Main Beach.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — On Saturday, a woman who was swimming off Main Beach in Laguna had not returned from the ocean, prompting a multi-agency rescue.
Saturday evening, concerned citizens reported that a bag of belongings was left behind by a 36-year-old woman who had gone swimming in the open ocean. She had not returned as of 10:50 p.m., according to Marine Safety officers.
"Authorities searched for over an hour but were unable to locate her," Laguna Beach Lifeguard Marine Safety Officer Kai Bond told the Orange County Register.

Lifeguards, police, firefighters all searched the area, and ultimately the coast guard helicopter located the woman off Shaws Covenear Laguna Beach.
"She was conscious and breathing," Bond reported. "She was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition."
