Council Approves Agreement With Laguna Beach Co.

The Laguna Beach City Council has agreed upon six new projects to improve city businesses.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — New developments will soon be in the works if an agreement between the City of Laguna Beach and the Laguna Beach Co. goes through as expected.

On Wednesday morning, the city and the real estate company agreed to work together on several new projects, the LA Times reported. There has been much discussion on the work ahead and Hasy Honarkar, a spokesperson for the Laguna Beach Co. and daughter of the owner, told the Times that what comes next will be "exciting for our hometown and our community."

Of the new developments, many involve the heart of Laguna Beach in association with reviving and tapping into the museum and college of Art and Design:

Hotel Laguna's restoration, the Museum Hotel in conjunction with the Laguna Art Museum, The Hive--current home of Art-A-Fair, Canyon Acres--the conversion of a lot into housing in a space at Laguna Canyon Road and Canyon Acres Drive.

Though some feel the economy is too unstable, others are pleased with the thought of new attention to empty businesses, according to the Times.

The MOU passed 4-1, with the sole dissenter Councilwoman Toni Iseman.

According to the Times, concepts will be out by the end of July for all but the Hive project.
