LAGUNA BEACH, CA —Bring everything but your surfboard. The Laguna Beach Local, a new local on-demand shared-ride transit service has come to Laguna Beach.

Restaurants, retailers, government services, local businesses, retailers and more can all take part in the ride request service that can seat up to 7 passengers, according to the city.

"The Laguna Beach Local service is available along the former Top to the World, Bluebird Canyon and Arch Beach Heights trolley routes, and through downtown," a city spokesperson says. You'll know the car when you see it, as the city vehicles are clearly marked with the Laguna Beach Local logo.

Your vehicle will be assigned to you through the app, and you'll be able to see how far away your ride is while you await transport. Be aware, you may be asked to "walk" toward where other local passengers are waiting for rides, the city says. This is a "shared ride service."

Your drivers will be professionals, the city says, and are employed by LAZ Parking. All have completed safety training.

If you need wheelchair accessibility, be sure and request that ahead of time by tapping the wheelchair icon.

You can use the QR Code, phone or website to call a ride. If you choose to be picked up ASAP, the average wait time could be 15 to 20 minutes, according to o the city.

The ride is free, and city drivers cannot take tips, but a hearty 'thank you' is always welcome.
