DA to Decide Whether to Charge Teen Accused of Threatening Laguna Beach High School

The Laguna Beach Police Department has completed its investigation of a student accused of threatening the high school.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA - Laguna Beach Police have completed an investigation into a local teen allegedly overheard making a threat against Laguna Beach High School last week.

The case has been referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s office for prosecution, said Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Tim Kleiser. The district attorney could decide whether to file charges against the teen as early as this week, Kleiser said.

As of yet, the student has not been arrested. Because the investigation is ongoing, police have released few details about the threat beyond noting that threat has passed. Authorities have not publicly identified the student.

“The student was interviewed,” Kleiser told. “Officers did go to the student’s house and remove items.”

Last week, Laguna Beach Unified School District officials sent a letter to students and families assuring them that the threat is over.
