Health & Fitness

December Twelve

Today I did not have my music, but I did get a coffee.  I had shorts on, a sweat shirt, a jacket and a beanie.  It was before 9 AM and it wasn't too long before I was hot.  I was walking through Heisler Park and as usual it was another clear and beautiful day. My walk was shorter and less intense than usual because I was overdressed, hot and I had work to do. On my way home I walked by Coast Hardware and found several credit cards and other cards mostly together on the sidewalk near the driveway. I collected them and returned them to the store.  The clerks acted like they knew whose they were and I left before they could say much to me.  I then approached the corner of Broadway and Beach Street across from Whole Foods where the new Chase Bank is under construction. There was a long flat-bed truck parked alongside the curb forcing cars to merge from the blocked lane into the next lane.  There was a woman with a baby stroller looking like she wanted to cross where the sidewalk was closed, she seemed concerned and hesitant.  I asked her if there was a baby in the stroller, she said yes and I asked her If I could help. She agreed and I promptly took advantage of the lights and traffic and assured her it was okay as we quickly crossed with my hand on her back, outside the crosswalk, which I rarely do but the construction forced us to improvise. We were safe and successful.  I felt like a boy scout as I made my way home.
