Robert John Greaney, of Costa Mesa, pleaded guilty in the drunk driving death of 81-year-old Edward Salkin.

A 24-year-old Costa Mesa man will serve one year in jail for drunkenly running over and killing an 81-year-old from Corona Del Mar last year.
Robert John Greaney pleaded guilty today to one count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for killing Edward Salkin last June. Prior to the plea deal, he faced charges of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol, both felonies, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, an infraction, according to court records. He also faces a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily harm.
Greaney’s vehicle slammed into 81-year-old Edward Salkin in the bicycle lane at Pacific Coast Highway near Morning Canyon Road at about 9:30 p.m. on a June evening.
