Friday Wave Check: It's Just Not Coming Together

Conditions likely to worsen!!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Laguna Beach Patch surf report.  Well, we're seeing some decent-size surf out there, but those conditions aren't coming together like we like!

There's already some texture or bump on it from the start.  We've got a mix of mainly west-northwest swell and some smaller south-southwesterly energy in the water.  That's giving us some kinda crumbly sectiony lines, with a few workable shoulders.

Most spots in Laguna Beach are running about knee- to chest-high, with the focal points pulling some plus sets.  Taking a look at those tides: at 9:37 this morning it drops to a 0.1 low, which will have many beaches lacking water mid-morning.  The tide then pushes back up to a 3.1 high at 4:51 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI...The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after rain for at least 72 hours due to urban runoff, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
