Friday Wave Check: Get Out The Small Wave Gear

Fairly small along this stretch of sand!

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Laguna Beach Patch surf report.  Well, if you don't care about much size, then it might be worth getting out the small wave gear and grabbing a few.

The conditions are mostly clean and glassy early on, with a mixture of mainly fading west-northwest swell and a new minor amount of south-southwesterly energy starting to fill in.

That's delivering some pretty weak sectiony lines at some spots, while other spots are just offering some dumpy shorebreak.  Most of Laguna Beach is running about knee- to thigh-high, with the focal points pulling some waist-high-plus sets.

At 8:49 this morning the tide pushes up to a 5.8 high, which is going to have many beaches pretty swamped and slow throughout the morning.  The tide then drains out to a negative 0.7 low at 3:11 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees.  See ya in the water!
