Gas Leak Reported In Laguna Beach Thursday

The neighborhood of Fontana Way and Bonita Way was under a shelter in place order after a gas leak was discovered.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach police and fire departments were on the scene of a gas leak in the area of Fontana Way and Bonita Way, Thursday afternoon. Residents were told to shelter in place during the incident.

"Expect delays at Fontana Way and Bonita Way," the city reported.

The leak, reported about 3 p.m., was still being worked on as of 4:15 p.m.

"It was caused by an independent company conducting roadwork," Laguna Beach Police Lt. James Cota tells Patch. "The yaccidentally hit a gas line."

Cota expected the leak would be fixed no later than 5 p.m.
