UPDATE: Gas Leak Scare in City of Laguna Beach
A gas leak scare in Laguna Beach had a contractor working overtime to fix it. No evacuations were needed. Overnight repair work continues

LAGUNA BEACH, CA—The Avalon and Seaview street area of Laguna Beach is still closed as the Gas Company attends overnight repairs as of 9:45 p.m Wednesday.
According to the city's latest statement, "The Gas Co is estimating the leak will be capped by midnight. Repairs should be completed by 8 am. Avalon/Seaview is still closed."
That intersection was the location of a gas leak that had city advisers telling residents to "stay away" Wednesday afternoon at just before 6 p.m.

Below asphalt work the area led to the gas line leak.
A report to residents went out initially at just before 6 p.m. when a contractor struck a gas line during construction. Emergency vehicles responded to the scene to monitor the situation, and initial reports to residents were to "avoid the area of Avalon and Seaview until further notice."

Per reports from the city, The Gas Company is on scene at Avalon/Seaview doing the necessary repairs as of 7:15 p.m.
"No evacuations are necessary at this time," the report stated.
