HNTB Vice President Victor J. Martinez, PE, Appointed to Mobility 21 Advisory Board

Martinez joins Southern California's most prominent transportation professionals

Los Angeles based HNTB Vice President Victor J. Martinez has been appointed to the Mobility 21 Advisory Board, joining a distinguished group of dedicated individuals representing a wide cross section of Southern California’s transportation professionals.

Mobility 21 is a coalition that brings together public, business and community stakeholders to pursue regional solutions to the transportation challenges facing Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties. A nonpartisan alliance, Mobility 21 delivers a unified voice for the region’s transportation priorities and seeks to improve mobility in the region for 21 million residents in Southern California.

Mobility 21’s Board of Directors is comprised of the leaders of Southern California’s transportation agencies and business organizations, tackling complex regional transportation issues facing Southern California. The Board works in close coordination with the Advisory Board that includes associate partners from both the public and private transportation industry.

Victor J. Martinez serves as Vice President for HNTB Corporation, an employee-owned infrastructure firm serving public and private owners and contractors, delivering a full range of infrastructure-related services, including award-winning planning, design, program management and construction management.

Vic has over 34 years of project management experience on complex, high-profile transportation projects throughout Southern California. From highway corridors involving dozens of complex structures to significant interchange and highway widenings, he has the ability to collaborate with clients, Caltrans, Federal Highway Administration, and other stakeholders and local communities while serving as principal-in-charge for large, multidisciplinary teams including fast-tracked efforts. His collaborative yet take charge manner provides for appropriate leadership of the project team and sensitivity during public events. Vic’s strong ties to Southern California and his many community and agency connections afford him the leverage to get imperative projects designed, approved, and completed on time and within budget.

HNTB was selected by the City of Los Angeles to design the new Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project, a historic bridge over the Los Angeles River that connects Boyle Heights to downtown Los Angeles. As project manager for this world-class, iconic piece of Los Angeles infrastructure, Vic oversees the delivery of the final design and construction support services for the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. HNTB’s design pays respect to the original bridge and also offers improved access to the Los Angeles River and easier bike and pedestrian access.

Prior to joining HNTB, Vic worked on numerous major civil engineering projects in the region including the I-215 Reconstruction/Widening, a $200 million freeway reconstruction/widening project through downtown San Bernardino; the SR 79 Realignment Project; SR 60 HOV widening project; I405 HOV widening project; SR 55 widening in the cities of Anaheim and Orange and the PSR for the I5/SR 55 interchange in the cities of Santa Ana and Tustin.

Vic earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Management Certificate from University of California Irvine Extension. He is licensed as a professional civil engineer in the state of California and holds membership in various professional organizations, including WTS-OC.
