Impressionism At The Ranch: Laguna Beach Painter Debuts Work

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The Ranch at Laguna Beach is debuting a special art installation, and residents can enjoy the featured works of renowned American impressionist painter John Cosby at The Ranch's new art gallery starting Thursday.

The Ranch worked with Cosby to install an art gallery throughout the property featuring artwork inspired by the California coast.

According to the news release, Cosby was a founding board member of both the prestigious Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and the Laguna Beach Plein Air Painting Invitational. He is a longtime Laguna Beach resident and is considered a world-class artist for his craft.

“We are so very fortunate to have an artist of John’s caliber working with us,” Chief Operating Officer for The Ranch Kurt Bjorkman said in a news release. “This installation is an excellent addition to the property that guests will love.”

His paintings will be on display throughout The Ranch's main lodge building, and guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Cosby's installation, which is inspired by coastal themes paired with the hotel's passion points in nature, sustainability and design.

“While in a place I have never visited, I begin to recognize what is different about it. I try to capture its uniqueness," Cosby said. “The Ranch at Laguna Beach is the perfect fit for my style of painting as both are rooted in a passion for California’s environment and landscape.”
