Irvine Worker Rescued After Hours On Cherry Picker
A worker trapped in a bucket of a fully extended cherry picker was rescued after the controls malfunctioned and he was unable to get down.
IRVINE, CA — A worker became stuck on a cherry picker boom crane at a hanger in Great Park, on Marine Way, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz, Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m.
"The boom truck controls malfunctioned in some way and the worker in the bucket was trapped, up in the air," Kurtz told Patch. "The OCFA 22 ladder truck showed up, extended the aerial ladder, and allowed the worker to climb down to safety."
The worker, who was not injured, was stuck on the large boom crane arm for just over an hour, according to Kurtz.
