LAGUNA BEACH, CA —The Laguna Beach High School boys cross country team was recognized this week for their achievements both on and off the course.

On Feb. 12, the LBUSD Board of Education recognized the boys for both their academic and athletic excellence, the team carrying an average GPA of 4.3 as well as their 2018 CIF State Division IV title.

The boys train by running between 60 to 70 miles per week, assistant coach Tommy Newton-Neil said at the meeting. According to Neil, the boys were the third fastest three-mile team in the nation, regardless of school size. After beating everyone in their conference and winning big in Fresno, the boys deserved the accolades, Coaches said.
