Laguna Beach City Manager Shares City Projects

The City of Laguna Beach continues to make improvements; City Manager John Pietig shared the following projects and reminders to residents

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The city of Laguna Beach continues to make improvements for residents through street resurfacing projects, storm drain improvements, and utility undergrounding.

Here are the latest announcements for October 2016 projects going on in your area.

Top of the World Trail Project - Construction of the Top of the World Trail project will begin on October 24, 2016 and be completed in approximately three months. The existing trail from the Fire Road to Top of the World Drive will be closed during construction.

Summit Drive Utility Undergrounding - On October 24, 2016, construction to accommodate the undergrounding of overhead utilities along the 700 Block of Summit Drive will begin. Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the road will be reduced to one lane for both directions. Construction is scheduled to be complete in December 2016 and overhead wires and poles by will be removed by December 2017.

Anita/Seaview Street Storm Drain Improvements - Anita Street at Coast Highway will continue to be closed 24 hours a day for approximately 3 more weeks. The overall project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November. For questions, please contact Tom Sandefur at (949) 497-0792.

Street Resurfacing - Street resurfacing will continue till December in the following areas: upper Bluebird Canyon, Alta Vista Way and lettered streets, Nyes Place, Victoria Beach, and the general area bordered by Cress Street, Alta Vista Way, the Diamond/Crestview neighborhood and the Coast.

Preliminary work will require temporary street closures on Dyer Place, Smith Way, and a small portion of Bluebird Canyon Drive near Eastman Way on October 14 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Affected residents and businesses have been notified of the project. Specific street level project information is available on the City’s website: www.lagunabeachcity.net/slurryseal.

4th Annual Flood Prevention Device Practice Installation Day - In an ongoing effort to help prepare for the winter the City is holding its 4th Annual Flood Prevention Device Practice Installation Day on October 24.
