Laguna Beach High School Drama Performs 'Cinderella'

Lovers of theater, visit Laguna Beach High School for the performance of "Cinderella."

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella” based on the classic fairy tale, champions the idea of self-empowerment while throwing in a bit of humor and lots of fun according to the Laguna Beach High School drama department.

A cast of 50 students, comprised of high school and elementary and middle school students, make up the cast.

“These kids are just little bundles of joy,” says Jordan Burton, who plays Queen Constantina in the show told Stu News. “The age range is from around six to eleven or twelve, and they are so excited.”

Angela Irish and her volunteers created stunning costumes for the show.

From the elegant gown that Cinderella dons when she goes to the ball, and "frumpy" outfits the stepsisters wear, the costumes become another character in the production.

Choreography, and music combine to increase the production value, according to Cinderella herself, Ellie Glade.

“It’s cool watching some of the scenes where there is choreography with twenty different things happening at once. It makes it look so good as a whole," she told Stu News.

Appropriate for all audiences.

The play will take place: March 24 - 26, and 31, as well as April 1 and 2.

Friday and Saturday night shows begin at 7 p.m.; Sunday matinees start at 2:30 p.m. in the Artists Theatre at 625 Park Avenue.
