“In a national poll, 80 percent of teens online reported they have no boundaries set by their parents about appropriate use of the internet, and only one in ten will tell their parent if they are a victim of online abuse,” said Cranford.
“Behind their screens, students may be unaware of how their messages are perceived,” said Billinger. “They might be sharing or creating content that can have potentially negative social emotional impact on their peers.”
Cranford is nationally recognized as a social media expert and author of “Parenting in a Digital World.” He was awarded the 2015 National Bullying Prevention Award and the 2015 American Legion Medal of Merit for his work on bullying prevention.
